Portico Consulting Group is led by Michael Salé, a higher education technology leader, educator, consultant, and Agile and XP coach.

Michael brings together experience in higher education, software and systems work, project leadership, and Agile coaching to help organizations make technology more useful and more manageable.
He has spent much of his career working at the intersection of people, process, and technology. His work has included supporting system rollouts and upgrades, helping campus teams navigate integrations and workflow challenges, developing training and support documentation, and guiding projects that require clear communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Michael also works with software development teams as a professional Agile, Scrum, and Extreme Programming coach. He helps teams strengthen collaboration, improve delivery habits, and adopt practical development practices that support healthy, sustainable work.
In addition to consulting, Michael serves in higher education leadership and teaches in the areas of business analytics, technology, and software-related subjects. That combination of hands-on technical work, teaching, and organizational leadership shapes Portico’s approach: thoughtful, practical, and focused on solutions that people will actually use.
He is also the creator of practical faculty-facing tools such as RollPilot, RosterSnap, and DeskSlate, which were designed to reduce friction in everyday academic workflows.
Portico is intentionally small and hands-on. Clients work directly with the principal consultant.
